Fire and Emergency Medical Services

Fire and EMS in Tompkins County are provided by 16 agencies, most of which are all or part volunteer first response organizations. dedicated to the safety and welfare of their community. Community support for their activities is critical to their success. Donations are certainly one method of such support, but “people-hours” are also desperately needed.

Emergency responders have a wide range of responsibilities. They participate in:

Many different types of skills are necessary for the functioning of these organizations, so, even if you don’t want to “fight a fire” or “drive an ambulance,” you may have other skills that could benefit them. Please become familiar with the agency that serves your community and support them in any way you can. They are listed at the right.
