Recreation and Parks Department

  • The Fitnbess Center has repened on a limited basis of 1/3 capacity!  Current pass holders will be emailed directly with this information.

    Patrons will be able to reserve your time slot exactly one week prior here:
    Out of concern for the health and safety of our community and to adhere with New York State guidelines, we sadly will not be holding the Outdoor Movie Night this year.
  • Right now, the most important thing to all of us is keeping our community safe and playing our role in stopping the spread. Please know that we remain committed to offering events for the community. We thank the Fairport Elementary School PTA’s for their support of this program and hope to offer one in 2021. 

  • The Town of Perinton has reopened its playgrounds. We still ask residents to use caution when bringing children to playgrounds and follow COVID-19 guidelines.

    If you choose to visit a playground:

    > Maintain a distance of at least 6 feet away from people you don't live with.

    > Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds before and after visiting playground. Adults and older children who can safely use hand sanitizer: Use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol and run hands together until dry, if soap and water are not available.

    > Wear a cloth face covering if you can. Cloth face coverings should not be placed on: Children under age 2; Anyone who has trouble breathing; Anyone who is unconscious, can't move, or is otherwise unable to remove the cloth face covering without assistance.


  • Here are some updates on Parks, as we continue to navigate the changes and guidelines of Coronavirus.

    1. ATHLETIC FIELDS and COURTS:  All fields and courts will reopen to youth sports teams on July. No organized adult sports have been approved as of yet.They are open for family use now. Kreag Road Park softball fields are closed due to Red Barn Circle Sewer Project traversing the outfield.
    2. REST ROOMS:  Park rest rooms are open from 9am to 8:30pm.  They are closed for short intervals during the day for additional cleaning.  There are no porta potties placed anywhere, due to cleaning restrictions.
    3. ENCLOSED BUILDING, OPEN AIR SHELTER and AMPHITHEATRE RESERVATIONS:  All reservations have been canceled through the July 4th weekend.  We are now accepting reservations for dates after July 4. The shelters remain available for passive use (no reservations), while recommending proper social distancing.
    4. AYRAULT ROAD BOAT LAUNCH and BUSHNELL’S BASIN DOCKS: The boat launch is open for use, and has been very busy.  The docks are open for day use, however at this time, we are not accepting boats for overnight use.
    5. PLAYGROUNDS:  The playgrounds have been cleared for use.  We are encouraging social distancing as best as possible, wearing masks if feasible, and applying hand sanitizer immediately before and after use of the playground.
    6. NIGHTGUARDS and WEEKEND STAFF: These staff members are working their normal tasks, as well as added rest room cleaning rounds.
    7. TENNIS COURT LIGHTS:  Lights are now on for evening use. 

    Of course conditions continuously change, restrictions ease, and guidelines are distributed.  We are doing our best, as everyone is, to keep up and make appropriate adjustments.

  • Looking out for the best interest of our community, the Town of Perinton has canceled the Summer Sunday Center Stage at Center Park Concert Series and the Thursday Gazebo Concert Series at Kennelley Park. The Town of Perinton strives to provide quality programs and events that bring our community together. We are all starving to be together, enjoy each other’s company and connect. But we also need to take appropriate measures in the interest of safety for all our residents. Based on the current climate, and after consulting with Monroe County health officials, we have decided to cancel our summer concert series’. If guidelines change, we may revisit holding concerts later in the summer. We would like to thank our partners for the Gazebo concerts, the Fairport Public Library and the Village of Fairport, and our sponsors of the Sunday concerts, especially Wegmans, for their continued support. We have been monitoring the status of similar events and this decision falls in line with what other are doing. The expectation of restrictions on large gatherings throughout the summer would make the concerts difficult to manage as physical distancing in a safe and responsible manner would be close to impossible. Our concerts draw people from throughout the region, which increases potential for virus transmission.If you have questions, please feel free to call (585) 223-0770. Stay Safe!

  • Mighty Machine Mania scheduled for May 2 has been postponed.
  • The 19th Annual Fishing Derby schedule for June 6 at Perinton Park has been rescheduled for September 12.
  • The youth triathlon scheduled for August 1 has been canceled.


Building & Codes

Town Supervisor Ciaran Hanna issued an Emergency Order to provide temporary outdoor dining permits for new or expanded outdoor seating to any businesses in the Town of Perinton that qualify. If the guidelines are followed, these permits will remain in effect for the rest of the outdoor dining season.

To apply for a temporary permit, please fill out the form titled, “Application for Temporary New or Expanded Outdoor Seating for Restaurants”, and submit it to Greg Seigfred, Director of Building and Codes, by emailing or by dropping it off at Town Hall (1350 Turk Hill Road). If you have any questions, please contact the office at (585) 223-0770. Please note that this form is not required for outdoor seating already established and authorized by the Town. However, all establishments are subject to State Liquor Authority authorization and State/County Public Health guidelines.

  • Perinton Senior Helpline: (585) 209-3205: A 24/7 resource for Perinton seniors who need resources or assistance while dealing with COVID-19. Volunteers are ready for your call! If you are feeling ill, call your primary care physician. In the case of a life-threatening emergency, call 911.
  • Local Senior Organizations

Lifespan: Call (585) 244-8400 for assistance. Lifespan is open by phone (Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) and able to assist older adults with information and guidance during this time. They are also able to provide assistance with obtaining a box of emergency food staples (from Foodlink) and/or pre-paid, necessary prescriptions from pharmacies that do not deliver.

Town Hall

  • The Town of Perinton has reopened. The Town Hall will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday.

    If you are not feeling well or are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, the Town asks that you not come to Town Hall. We encourage visitors to wear masks and one will be provided upon request. We will also provide hand sanitizer stations throughout the building.

    The Town strongly encourages residents to conduct business with the Town via phone or email if at all possible. We also have a drop box located outside the Perinton Community Center for after-hours transactions.

    As a reminder, Monroe County has closed all mobile DMV offices for the remainder of 2020.

  • Town Supervisor Ciaran Hanna issued a State of Emergency in the Town as of Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at 4 p.m. Under Article 2B, Section 24, of the Executive Law of the State of New York, Hanna proclaimed that this State of Emergency will remain in effect upon for 30 days unless and until rescinded or extended for an additional 30-day period. The State of Emergency was extended an additional 30 days on April 17, 2020 and on May 19, 2020 and on June 17, 2020, and on July 17, 2000.

  • The Town Board meeting Wednesday, August 12, will be virtual. Join via computer using StarLeaf or audio only by calling (669) 800-5335 or (669) 202-3202. We will provide the meeting ID the Friday before the meeting.

Applications before Boards

  • Submitting an application

The Town Board, Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Historic Architecture Commission are accepting applications.  Please contact Lori Stid, Secretary to the Boards at 223-0770 to discuss application process or for information on submitting applications to these Boards. We are requiring that each applicant submit an electronic copy of their application, along with the required number of paper copies, utilizing Citrix ShareFile for secure file sharing. Please discuss this process with Lori Stid.

In order to minimize the number of people in the building to protect the public and the Town Hall employees, residents/applicants, The Town asks that if you are not feeling well or are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, that you not come to Town Hall. The entrance to Town Hall to submit an application before a Board is by entering the building by using the third set of double doors, which are to the right of the flag pole.  This is the Town Hall main entrance.  Come in and ask for Lori Stid, Secretary to the Boards, who is housed in the Building & Codes Office.


  • Public Hearing/Meeting

At this time, for the public hearings/meetings, we are requiring that each applicant (limit of 2 people per application) wait in the safety of their own vehicle(s) until called into the meeting room by Town staff to present their application to the Board. 

If the applicant is not feeling well or is experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, the Town asks that you reschedule your public hearing/meeting and not come to Town Hall. We encourage applicants to wear masks and one will be provided upon request. We will also provide hand sanitizer stations throughout the building.

At this time, the public may attend these meetings/public hearings only virtually.  The hybrid meeting format utilizes web-conferencing combined with limited staff and limited Board members and applicant(s) in the Board meeting room.  This design allows the inclusion of the required Board members, applicant, and the public, while maintaining proper social distancing requirements. 

The entrance to Town Hall for the Public Hearing/Meeting will be through the center doors located between the Perinton Community Center and Town Hall. After a decision has been made on your application, Town staff will direct you out of the building. 


Town Clerk’s Office

  • Perinton Town Clerk/Tax Receiver Jennifer A. West reccomends several contactless payment options for 2020-2021 school tax bills. While Perinton Town Hall is open to the public, the Town Clerk’s Office requests taxpayers utilize a contactless payment method instead of paying in-person to ease social distancing and minimize contact between residents. 

 “For everyone’s continued safety, our office requests residents make an alternative plan to paying in-person at Town Hall,” said West. “Around tax deadlines, we typically see hundreds of people per day and unusually long lines. Due to the pandemic, we cannot risk having thousands of people coming in and out of Town Hall. The top priority of the Town Clerk’s Office is to provide the best customer experience possible, and in order to accomplish that, we request taxpayers utilize one of our convenient contactless payment options.” School tax bills will be mailed out and posted on Monroe County’s website,, on Monday, August 31, 2020. School tax payments can be made beginning Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020. 

West encourages residents to use one of the following options to pay their school tax bill.

Payment Made Via Credit Card Online (3% processing fee waived)

Residents wishing to pay by credit card may go to to remit their tax payment by selecting “View Taxes Online.”  *Please note the typical 3% fee for credit card payments is being waived. However, installment service charges still apply.

Check Payment Sent by Mail

Perinton residents can send a check by mail payable to Jennifer A. West, Tax Receiver, 1350 Turk Hill Road, Fairport, NY 14450. A receipt will be mailed back, upon request. The payment receipt date is determined by U.S. postmark only.

Place Check in the Dropbox outside of Perinton Town Hall

Payment by check only is permitted in the secure Town Tax Dropbox located in front of Town Hall, 1350 Turk Hill Road, Fairport, NY 14450. A receipt will be mailed back. Residents must adhere to all tax due dates.

M&T Bank in Perinton

Only for full payments or first installment payments made between Sept. 1 and Oct. 1. M&T Bank is located at 2 Courtney Drive, Fairport, NY 14450. The bank is open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Friday,
9 a.m. – 6 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Cash Payment by Appointment Only

If a resident is paying cash, an appointment must be made to pay in-person at the Town Tax Office in Perinton Town Hall located at 1350 Turk Hill Road, Fairport, NY 14450. Appointments can be made by calling (585) 223-0770.

If a resident is paying in installments, the first payment is due to the Town Clerk’s Office by Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2020. The second and third installments must be mailed directly to: Monroe County Treasurer P.O. Box 14420, Rochester, NY 14614. If paying in full, the full amount is due to the Town Clerk’s Office by Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020.

Any residents who does not escrow their taxes with their mortgage company and have not received a tax bill within the first week of September should call the Town Clerk's Office at (585) 223-0770 or visit to obtain a copy of the bill.

While the Perinton Town Clerk’s Office collects school taxes for Fairport and Perinton residents, the Town is not the taxing authority and does not control the school tax amount.

  • E-Z Pass On-the-Go tags for passenger vehicles can now be purchased in the Town of Perinton Clerk’s Office. To purchase a tag, please call (585) 223-0770. The tags cost $25 and come with a pamphlet with info on how to register with NYS EZPass. After you register your tag, the $25 fee is moved to your account. The tag provides users a discount on tolls in New York State and 14 neighboring states. Department of Public Works

Town Department of Public Works continues to provide essential and emergency services as follows:

  • The Electronics Recyling program is suspended.
  • Residential refuse collection (per the regular weekly schedule).  Large brush and leaf piles will be picked up as staffing levels allow.
  • Highway and sewer maintenance including snow and ice removal and pump station operations.
  • Animal control.
  • Building permit and code enforcement (to the extent permissible by applicable state executive orders).
  • The Building & Codes Dept. is still receiving building permit applications and issuing permits. Please review the project requirements and permit application form under the Permit Requirements tab. Town services that require staff to enter private, occupied residences and/or businesses are suspended until further notice.

  • Town residents with a valid Town issued vehicle decal can continue to drop off their household garbage only at High Acres Landfill during normal business hours between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekdays. High Acres has restarted their Saturday hours as well - 8 a.m. to noon.
  • Mark your calendar for our annual Perinton Waste Recycle & Shredding Day on October 3! While we had to postpone this springtime event due to COVID-19, we are thrilled to host it this fall. Our Department of Public Works will offer electronics recycling, free shredding for residents, and partner with Monroe County to provide a household hazardous waste collection (by-appointment-only). By offering these collections, we are bringing essential services close to home while encouraging residents to recycle items that are often difficult to dispose of properly. Town Court

  • Perinton Town Court resumed holding Court on July 7, 2020.  If you have a matter before the Court and have any questions about your appearance date, call the Court at (585) 223-0770.  Court Office hours are Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m.   Masks must be worn at Town Hall and Court at all times.     


Perinton Food Shelf

  • The Town is still accepting donations to the food shelf. Please bring your donations to the Town Hall and follow the signs to the back door. You can leave your items in the bins on the table..
  • Donations are crucial during this time.



The Fairport, Pittsford, Penfield, Victor and East Rochester Central School Districts will remain closed for the remainder of the school year.  The Fairport Central School District will continue to provide free meals to students in need throughout the school closure.  For more information go to


Village of Fairport

  • Planning, Zoning and Historic Preservation Commission applications: The submission of new applications is temporarily suspended.

Mobile DMV

The Monroe County Clerk’s Office announced it will keep the Mobile DMVs, including the Perinton Town Hall, closed for the rest of 2020. The state has suspended driver’s license renewals, car registrations and auto inspections until further notice. If you have questions, please email

Beginning on June 1, state-run DMV offices in the counties of Albany, Onondaga, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, and the five boroughs of New York City will begin to process registrations and other transactions by mail, and beginning June 4, will accept transactions through secure drop boxes located at each officeCounty Clerks that operate DMV offices in the remaining 51 counties of the State are advised to follow the State DMV’s timeline and guidance for reopening.  For more information about services offered at county-operated offices visit our Offices page. As regions enter phase 3 of reopening, DMV will offer limited in-person transactions in state-run DMV offices by reservation only, prioritizing critical services, and will resume all other road tests at that time. Until then, there will be no in-person transactions in any DMV office and reservations will only become available as regions enter phase 3. 


Extension of Expired Documents

All driver licenses, non-driver identification cards and vehicle registrations that expired March 1, 2020 or after and vehicle inspections that expired March 31 or after were previously extended and continue to be extended.


Updating to REAL ID or Enhanced licenses

You cannot upgrade to a REAL ID or Enhanced Driver License (EDL) as these transactions require an in person visit.  For the health and safety of our customers and staff amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, DMV offices are not serving customers in person. While offices are closed for such transactions, you can renew their current license or non-driver ID online now and upgrade to a REAL ID or an EDL in a DMV office later. Also due to COVID-19, the federal REAL ID enforcement deadline has been extended one year until October 1, 2021.


Transactions available online

The DMV offers more than 60 transactions online, making it fast and convenient for all New Yorkers to complete transactions they need.  The following services continue to be offered online:

  • select driver license services, such as renewing or replacing a license
  • vehicle transactions, such as renewing or replacing a registration
  • requests for DMV records, like crash reports or driving abstracts
  • address change
  • paying fines and fees for suspensions, civil penalties, driver responsibility assessments
  • pleading or paying New York City traffic tickets

The steps outlined above do not include all of the steps the Town is taking. As we receive additional information from the Monroe County Department of Health, New York State and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, we will revise and augment this plan accordingly.
