Greetings!  Well, at least we can say that 2020 has not been a dull year so far. Here, at the Town of Perinton, we continue to press on despite the ongoing challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. We continue to provide essential services, supply crucial resources, assist residents through the Perinton Food Shelf, support our students and families through the Perinton Community Center, and care for our seniors through our Perinton Senior Helpline.  We have remained open and operational since Day One of the pandemic in Monroe County. We are committed to serving the needs of all residents in the Town of Perinton, and when it comes to a challenge, we will always rise to meet it.

Community Spirit: In partnership with Monroe County, we have handed out more than 120,000 masks to residents through our face-mask distribution. When the Perinton Food Shelf ran low on their food supply and volunteers, our Town offered to help with distribution and food collection - dispensing more than 8 tons of food to local families in need. When our seniors felt unsafe picking up groceries or prescriptions, our Town established a Senior Helpline to ensure their needs will be met throughout the pandemic. When schools adjusted their schedules, our Recreation Department helped fill the gap for parents by offering full school-day programming and after-school hours.

I am confident that no matter the challenge we face, with everyone’s help and support, we will always find a way to prevail.

Budget Time:  While we face new budget challenges due to the pandemic, such as decreased revenues and reduced sales tax dollars, all of our departments are working diligently to look at every dollar. The Town's budget process is a prodigious one – covering numerous services and programs that have significant effects on residents each day.

I look forward to presenting our 2021 budget to residents in a few weeks, so you can see exactly where your tax dollars go – and see the programs and services that support the outstanding quality of life we all enjoy in Perinton.

The Future….and Beyond:  As we look to the future, we have an exciting initiative that will require the input of every single resident in the Town of Perinton – our 2020 Comprehensive Plan. From world-renowned parks and trails to affordable living options, to quality services that rival any town, Perinton has so much to offer. And as we plan for the next 10 years, we look forward to building on our already strong foundation. The Comprehensive Plan is our blueprint for the future, and we need to hear from you on what matters most.

Please join us at the Comprehensive Plan Open House on Thursday, Sept. 24, at the Perinton Community Center. Residents can stop by Room 204 any time during our two scheduled shifts, 2-4 p.m. and 5–7 p.m. Socially distant stations will be set up in compliance with all New York State guidelines.

We are also asking all residents to submit an online survey found on Topics covered in the survey include historic and cultural resources, open space, economic development, housing, transportation, recreation, and more.

We want to hear from you! So please take the survey and help shape the future of Perinton for the next decade.

In closing, I want to thank all of you for pulling together in the face of some very challenging times.  This community has done a terrific job navigating this ordeal.  All of us, from our school-aged children to our seniors, have sacrificed and adapted with an eye toward keeping everyone safe.  I am convinced we will get through this stronger and more prepared for whatever challenge we may face.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call, email or stop by.  My phone number is (585) 223-0770 and my email address is  I look forward to hearing from you.
